Category Standards | Official Fellow Citizen
Official Fellow Citizen defines category-specific production and quality standards. A product must meet the standards of its category before it may be issued as a registry coffee. Standards may evolve as categories expand.
Coffee
A coffee product issued under Official Fellow Citizen must meet the following standards:
• Specialty grade verification: Certified specialty grade per Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) guidelines — minimum 80+ on the 100-point scale.
• Roasted in the United States: Final roasting process performed within the United States.
• Independent lab testing: Lab tested by FoodChain ID — a PJLA-accredited laboratory — for mycotoxins, heavy metals, and contaminants, with all compounds returning Not Detected.
• Fresh roast window: Roasted and shipped within a defined freshness window.
