GEORGE Decaf is sourced from smallholder farms in Mandheling, Sulawesi — grown at 1,200 to 1,600 meters above sea level on volcanic soil. The Java Toraja varietal thrives in these conditions, producing a bean with rich, full-bodied character that holds up through decaffeination.

Processed using the Swiss Water method — 100% chemical-free, removing 99.9% of caffeine while preserving the bean’s flavor compounds. Roasted medium-dark in small batches in the United States. The full GEORGE experience, suited for afternoon or evening.

Coffee became widely enjoyed in American households during the late eighteenth century. Following the Boston Tea Party of 1773, many colonists shifted away from British tea imports and coffee became a popular alternative. By the time George Washington took command, coffee was part of the daily rhythm of American life.

GEORGE was created in 2026 to mark the Semiquincentennial — America’s 250th anniversary of independence. It is a limited edition. When the Semiquincentennial year concludes, GEORGE is retired. Every bag produced is part of the historical record of this moment.

What Makes This Specialty-Grade Coffee?

Specialty-grade coffee scores 80 points or higher on the Specialty Coffee Association’s 100-point evaluation scale. Coffees are evaluated through blind sensory testing by trained graders who assess aroma, flavor, body, acidity, and defects.

The classification represents a small percentage of global coffee production. GEORGE meets the specialty-grade standard. It also meets the OFC Specialty Coffee Standard — specialty grade minimum, roasted in the United States, independently lab tested, shipped fresh.
