The Coffee
Papua New Guinea Arabica at altitude — freeze-dried to preserve what volcanic soil and careful processing built into the bean. Lion’s Mane added post-extraction for the morning that requires more. Chaga for depth and duration.
The mushrooms do not announce themselves in the cup. They work the way the redwood forest works — quietly, over a long time, at a scale that is only apparent when you stop and look up. Dark cocoa character, dried stone fruit, a finish that holds.
The redwoods did not get here by accident. Neither does anything worth keeping.
Tasting Notes
| Dark Cocoa | Deep, rich foundation through the body |
| Dried Stone Fruit | Plum and apricot character in the mid-palate |
| Walnut | Warm, earthy close |

Redwood Forest to Papua New Guinea
The giant redwoods of California are the largest living things on earth by volume. Albert Bierstadt painted them in 1874 — Giant Redwood Trees of California. The painting is on this cylinder, sourced from Wikimedia Commons, confirmed public domain CC0. Bierstadt understood that the scale of these trees was not their most interesting quality. Their age was. What they had accumulated over centuries of growth was.
Papua New Guinea’s highland coffee farms operate on a different timescale but the same logic — slow accumulation of the right conditions producing something that cannot be rushed. Lion’s Mane and Chaga are added because they belong in this morning, not because they are fashionable. The coffee story leads. The mushrooms support it.
Both the forest and the farm reward the person willing to be patient with them.
The Mushroom Blend
Lion’s Mane and Chaga are added post-extraction — after the coffee has been brewed and freeze-dried — to preserve their functional properties. This is the correct sequence. Adding mushroom extract before extraction would degrade both the coffee character and the mushroom compounds.
Lion’s Mane is associated with focus. Chaga is associated with grounding warmth. Neither will taste like mushrooms in the cup. The coffee leads. The functional layer works in the background. No medical claims; not evaluated by the FDA.
