Historical Context

GEORGE was introduced to coincide with the Semiquincentennial — the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.

Coffee became widely embraced in American households during the late eighteenth century. Following the Boston Tea Party of 1773, tea carried political associations with British trade, and coffee increasingly became a patriotic alternative in American homes.

GEORGE recognizes that historical connection between American civic identity and the daily ritual of the morning cup while standing on its own merits as a high-quality specialty coffee.

Availability

GEORGE was issued in February 2026 and will remain available through December 31, 2026.

After that date, the coffee will no longer be produced or shipped.

Why is the coffee called George? The name begins with a family story.

In July 1976, during the United States Bicentennial, a WWII Navy veteran visited Washington D.C. with his family. Standing among the Bicentennial crowds, he looked up at a portrait of George Washington and saw him not as a historical figure frozen in time but as a real general and leader — a man who had built something that lasted. A stranger nearby turned to him and said: "official fellow citizen." The phrase stayed with him for the rest of his life. It became the way he greeted people, the way he thought about shared American identity, and eventually the name of the brand his family built in his memory.

GEORGE is named in that spirit — honoring George Washington, anchored in a real American family story, and introduced during the 250th anniversary of the independence Washington helped secure.

How long will GEORGE be available? GEORGE was issued in February 2026 and will remain available through December 31, 2026.
